Cats see people as bigger "cats" basically and they want to be part of the group and be accepted. Also it makes your cat feel safer, she trusts you and being close to you makes her feel safe and protected. I know this sounds funny but some dogs are afraid of the dark or dont like when it is quiet. That may be why he sleeps fine during the day, but at night wants somebody near him. Maybe try putting a night light near him and giving him a safe stuffed toy to sleep with. Also try playing with him more during the day to make him tired. This will also get better once he is older. Right now he is a puppy and needs lots of sleep, so he sleeps both at night and day. All puppies do, dont worry!
