You are on a modest dose so that is a possibility. Do you have Bipolar or depression? Depression can certainly cause hypersomnia (and the criteria for medical hypersomnia is 10 or more hours/day). If you are dealing with depression then your treatment regimen might need alteration. The Effexor should help a little with the hypersomnia. See your doctor (hopefully you have a psychiatrist). There are a bunch of options but I would only be speculating on treatments because I don't know your medical history. Q. I often have mild sinus headaches at night and insomnia, and I started taking Exedrin PM a few weeks ago and it seems to really help me to sleep. I'm not sure if it is safe to take Exedrin on a daily basis, though. I'm an otherwise healthy 27-year-old woman. Thank you Squirel.
