From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Sleep is a naturally recurring state of relatively suspended sensory and motor activity, characterized by total or partial unconsciousness and the inactivity of nearly all voluntary muscles. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli, and it is more easily reversible than hibernation or coma. It is observed in all mammals, all birds, and many reptiles, amphibians, and fish. In humans, other mammals, and a substantial majority of other animals that have been studied (such as some species of fish, birds, ants, and fruit flies), regular sleep is essential for survival. The purposes and mechanisms of sleep are only partially clear and are the subject of intense research. PhysiologyFrom Wikipedia under the

I've tried drinking warm milk and listening to soft music before going to sleep, and I avoid caffeine and sweets before going to sleep. I know I do not suffer from any sleeping disorders and I am looking for a non-medicated way to feel refreshed in the morning after sleeping. I want a NON-Medicated way to do this, please and thank you. :) Asked by Laurie - Mon Feb 5 17:02:41 2007 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments A. get on a regular exercise routine. join a gym and first work with a trainer. eat the right foods for your life and stay away from chemicals. even sodas can mess you up. and drink enough good water and meet quality people who don't stress you for their pleasure. If I have a "bad" night, I sleep 1 or 2 hours, and then have to have a nap of 1 or 2 hours in the day. Sleeping pills, barbituates, and narcotics have no effect. It used to bother me, but I have adjusted to this sleeping pattern. I never get cranky anymore, and I have never been lethargic from lack of sleep. My thought patterns and cognative abilities have never been compromised from a lack of sleep. I have never been formally diagnosed, but I know I am an insomniac.
