In philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science, perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information. The word "perception" comes from the Latin words perceptio, percipio, and means "receiving, collecting, action of taking possession, apprehension with the mind or senses."

Perception is one of the oldest fields in psychology. The oldest quantitative law in psychology is the Weber-Fechner law, which quantifies the relationship between the intensity of physical stimuli and their perceptual effects. The study of perception gave rise to the Gestalt school of psychology, with its emphasis on holistic approach.

What one perceives is a result of interplays between past experiences, including one’s culture, and the interpretation of the perceived. If the percept does not have support in any of these perceptual bases it is unlikely to rise above perceptual threshold.

What are some ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture?
Q. I have to have several peoples opinions to these questions for a class. If you have a second please answer the following questions in your point of view. 2.)What are some ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture? 3.)What are some specific reasons (moral, emotional and intellectual) that people reject the Christian gospel? 4.)What can Christians do to address these objections and better communicate the Christian gospel?

A. Well since the Christian gospels are books about Jesus' life I think it just teaches morals for modern day people to live by. If you mean the bible itself, much of the US law system was basically formed by principles taught in the book of Romans, until much of it began changing in the early 1900's.

Each have their education credentials displayed in their offices. I would like to now display mine, yet, I wonder how the underlings will perceive that. A. Go ahead and display them. People normally aren't offended by it, and it doesn't come off as bragging. It's quite common in most places of business. However, leave it at that. Don't go around talking about your credentials. Hearing "I have a degree in (whatever)" will annoy people in a hurry.

Why are good looking people always perceived as untalented and ugly people as talented?
Q. It doesn't matter if they have a strong, Beautiful voice and amazing stage presence, or a great acting skills, if they're extremely good looking, people are still gonna accuse them of having no talent! Why is that? I sure there are some people who are quite attractive AND talented isn't there?

A. Heres an example, when jerry seinfield was younger and more nerdy and awkward he was funnier, now hes good looking, rich, nice hair cut and good teeth, i saw him in standup and he wasn't as funny! Sometimes people pay more attention to people that look a certain way, and maybe they seem more authentic. Also, pretty people can ugly themselves up if they want, they dont have to have their hair done and makeup etc.
