Dreams are a succession of images, thoughts, sounds, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology. Cultural historyJacob's dream of a ladder of angelsDreams have a long history. They have been a subject of controversy and disagreement. Throughout history, people have sought meaning in dreams or divination through dreams. They have been described physiologically as a response to neural processes during sleep, psychologically as reflections of the subconscious, and spiritually as messages from gods or predictions of the future. Many cultures had practiced dream incubation, with the intention of cultivating dreams that were prophetic or contained messages from the divine. Judaism has a traditional ceremony called "hatavat halom" – literally meaning making the dream a good one. Through this rite disturbing dreams can be transformed to give a positive interpretation by a rabbi or a rabbinic court. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I know him we always hang out with other friends and i always have dreams about him. Right now i have had 12 dreams that he has been in. I told him I have had dreams but I have not told him every dreams yet. Asked by Adriana G - Wed Jul 1 12:59:25 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think you like him and this is proved by the fact that you count how many times you have dreamed of him! Our dreams show two things: 1st things that happened or that we want to happen and 2nd our subconsciousness. Whichever of the two is happening to you, I think that you care for him a lot (or at least more than for the other guys that you hang out!). If you think you do like him, go and talk to him about your feelings. He may have understood something, because you told him about the dreams you had. Just follow your heart! ;) Answered by Twilighter Irene - Wed Jul 1 13:16:38 2009 How can you remember more of your dreams with an alarm clock? Q. I find it difficult to remember my dreams enough to write anything comprehensible in my dream journal if I don't wake up before my alarm goes off. That buzzing is like a tabla rasa for my mind. Anyone have any suggestions? Yeah.. I decided to change my name to honor Tahuti. Asked by Tahuti - Wed Dec 12 10:24:35 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. (Hey, you changed your name, honeybun--but its a good choice :-} ) I have heard some people recommend using an alarm clock for more effective dream recall. You often have to wake up out of a dream to remember it well. Ideally, the mind should lapse in and out of Non-REM and REM sleep, the former of which is a deeper form of sleep, and I believe I've read that REM (dreaming) sleep is more active during the early morning hours of sleep time. I wouldn't recommend wrecking your sleep pattern too much for the sake of recording dreams, though. It might wreck your waking-hours mood, mental focus, and health although the symptoms will probably be mild and subtle. Another way to remember dream (and also train in lucid dreaming)--but I… [cont.] Answered by philosophyangel - Wed Dec 12 11:15:08 2007 What does it mean when you have dreams about an ex?
Q. I've had two dreams about an ex from high school whom I haven't seen in probably 10 years. In this dream he is trying to persuade me to get back with him but I keep telling him I have no interest in him and I'm happy with my life. What does this mean? Asked by Christiane - Thu Feb 19 13:33:36 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. This ex of yours may serve as reminder or confirmation of what you have now. Deep down, you are happy, but not happy enough. There is some sort of attention seeking involved in it. Due to the fact that you are happy with what you have now, the ex, basically in your projection wanted to get back to you reflects the attention seeking you may have. In other words, you want others to know, so in dream you are telling yourself that you are content. But that contentment basically is not really enough. You are seeking for confirmation and assurance, and so you traced back to the memory of 10 years and had it vent it out. Answered by YourDreamDoc - Thu Feb 19 15:25:31 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Dreams" A dream is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. The events of dreams are often impossible or unlikely to occur in physical reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer. Dreams can also be what we want for ourselves in our lives, our hopes, our expectations, our plans – things which we wish for ourselves but often seem forever to be tantalizingly just beyond our reach.
